Canon F1 S Serial Number Alone OnThere is no way to tell a date by serial number alone on older non L lenses. I dont know what kind of deal youre getting into, but I doubt anyone would scam on an 80 lens. Because they make and ship those things in large batches its impossible to tell actual service time on a lens like that, even if you could confirm a manufacturing date. A 50 might sit on a shelf for a year in one retailer, and another out the door in seconds. Check the condition, its not like they have an expiration date. I inspected the lens, packed it up with frontrear cap, box, bubble wrap, then another box, and the buyer says it arrived broken. Like, the back end falling out and a piece of the camera mount broken off. It seems damaged beyond anything that could have reasonably happened in transit and since I unfortunately didnt note the serial number before hand, Im trying to verify in other ways that its really the same lens. More like the guy dropped the lens (which for the nifty fifty, it seems to break in half by dropping) Id ask for high resolution photos to see if you can see any impact damage.
